In December 2015 the Eastern Cape inflation rate increased to 5.3% year-on-year (y/y) from 5.1% y/y in the previous month. The Eastern Cape inflation rate for this month was higher than the South African inflation rate (5.2% y/y) and the national headline inflation rate (5.2%). The Eastern Cape’s inflation increase by 0.3 of a percentage point in December 2015. CPI for South Africa went up to 5.2% y/y in December of 2015, from 4.8% in the previous month and recorded the the biggest increase in a year.
